
GlobalSource Partners’ India Country Analyst Susan Thomas is a leading authority on India’s macro dynamics and economic policy. Based in Mumbai, she is also a Senior Research Fellow and Co-Founder of XKDR Forum, a cross-disciplinary think tank. Her quantitative and policy-oriented research uses an interdisciplinary approach across finance, legal systems, public finance management, and government procurement.
Dr. Thomas has a strong focus on Indian finance. She co-authored the NSE-50 index and designed risk management systems for India's equity derivatives market. Her work on India’s bankruptcy reform includes serving on the Bankruptcy Legislative Reforms Committee, leading the drafting of the new bankruptcy law, and then leading research on the new bankruptcy regulator’s organizational design. Earlier, she was part of the Standing Council on the Competitiveness of the Indian Financial Sector at the Ministry of Finance.
Dr. Thomas holds a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from IIT Bombay and a PhD in Economics from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. She has authored many journal publications, including on India’s financial and commodities markets, and previously held a faculty position at the Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research.
