The First Panel of the Supreme Federal Court concluded the first phase of the trial of former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants accused of attempting a coup d’état in 2022. Next week, on September 9, 10, and 12, the justices will resume the criminal proceedings with their votes. Meanwhile, negotiations continue over the amnesty bill. In an interview with Globonews yesterday, PL Party President Valdemar Costa Neto said the opposition has the necessary votes in Congress to approve an amnesty for those involved in the January 8, 2023 attacks, including former President Jair Bolsonaro. President Lula (PT) will launch today the “People’s Gas” program. The expansion of the Gas Aid subsidy is expected to guarantee free cooking gas for more than 15.5 million families (over 46 million people).
