The Liberal Party (PL) held its national convention on Saturday (July 25), officially nominating Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) as its candidate for the presidency. The event featured a strong appeal to female voters—one of Flávio Bolsonaro’s main electoral weaknesses. The Nexus/BTG Pactual presidential poll was also released today, July 27. Three additional national polls are scheduled this week: AtlasIntel on Tuesday, PoderData on Thursday, and Instituto Vox on Friday. According to the Nexus/BTG poll released today, President Lula is statistically tied in hypothetical second-round matchups against three right-wing presidential hopefuls. The National Social Security Council (CNPS) will meet on Tuesday, July 28, to consider a possible reduction in the interest rate ceiling for payroll-deductible loans granted to INSS retirees. The maximum rate has remained at 1.85% per month since March of last year.
