The Lower House approved a bill that reduces penalties for individuals convicted of attempting a coup d’état. The vote came after a meeting between Senator and presidential pre-candidate Flavio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and the leaders of the PP, Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI), and União Brasil, Antonio Rueda. The Lower House also approved yesterday a proposal targeting persistent tax debtors—taxpayers who repeatedly and deliberately evade taxes to circumvent fiscal rules. Also in the Lower House, a bill imposing a 10% across-the-board cut in tax benefits may be brought to a vote today.
