Yesterday, one week after the United States began enforcing tariffs on Brazilian products, President Lula (PT) signed a provisional measure (MP) establishing protection measures for Brazilian companies affected by Donald Trump’s decision. Yesterday marked the deadline for final statements from members of “Nucleus 1”, accused of attempting a coup d’état, including former President Jair Bolsonaro. His defense argued that he never acted to prevent the inauguration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Yesterday, the government scored a key victory in the Supreme Court (STF). By a narrow margin, the Court upheld the validity of collecting the Cide tax on foreign remittances for contractual payments.
