Politics gets chaotic, economics business as usual
In yet another startling development to mark the end of a remarkable October, MHP leader Bahceli invited the incarcerated leader of the PKK, Abdullah Ocalan, to address Kurdish party DEM’s parliamentary caucus, raising hopes for a second Peace Process. If PKK declares a cease-fire and renounces violence, AKP-MHP will have a free hand to invite the DEM Party to negotiations on a new constitution.
Turkey’s number one enemy, Fethullah Gulen, the chief imam of Gulenist terror organization, died on Monday, which is certain to start a leadership struggle and significantly degrade the outfit’s capacity to do damage to Turkey at home and abroad. If the organization splinters, Turkey’s relations with the US and Europe may improve somewhat.
