The Liberal Party (PL), along with representatives from União Brasil, the Progressita Party (PP), and the Republicanos, obstructed legislative activity in both the Lower House and the Senate. The effectiveness of the opposition’s obstruction strategy still hinges on whether other centrist parties decide to join in. For now, despite the noise, it appears unlikely that legislative activity will be completely paralyzed. Today marks the start of the 50% tariff announced by President Donald Trump on Brazilian exports to the United States. The Brazilian government may announce measures between today and tomorrow to mitigate the impact on affected sectors.
