Justice Kassio Nunes Marques officially assumes the presidency of Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) today. He will lead the court during the 2026–2028 term and will therefore preside over this year’s elections. Yesterday, Finance Minister Dario Durigan stated that he expects the complementary bill authorizing the federal government to use extraordinary oil revenues to temporarily reduce fuel taxes to be voted on later this week. The bill’s rapporteur is Representative Marussa Boldrin (Republicanos-GO). Yesterday, another potential presidential contender announced that he will not run. Ciro Gomes (PSDB) said he will instead seek the governorship of Ceará.
