The President of the Lower House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), stated that the vote to overturn the IOF tax hike included support from both right- and left-wing deputies. He criticized what he called the polarization of “us versus them.” Today, the House may vote on an urgent status request for Supplementary Bill 41/19, from the Senate, which establishes a periodic review of the impact of tax incentives granted by the federal government to businesses. The federal government will again raise the import tax on electric and hybrid vehicles starting today, July 1, with rates ranging from 25% to 30%.
