With corruption accusations reaching Ankara mayor Mansur Yavas, it is almost certain that Kemal Kilicdaroglu will be returned to his position as party chairman during the month, thus sidelining Ozer and his team for a long period. Does CHP have any cards to play before being paralyzed?
The (Kurdish) Peace Process is dead, as Erdogan, Bahceli and DEM Party are reading from different pages, while there is scant hope for inter-sectarian peace in Syria. Yet, the Republican Alliance is rock solid, which will soon focus on drafting enough Members of the Parliament (MPs) to reach the numbers to call early elections at Erdogan’s convenience.
A recent crackdown on three very large holding companies is either a “clean hands” operation to elevate Erdogan’s weak poll standings, or reflective of the new mission of reshuffling private capital to the most loyal members of the crony regime. The latter augurs “disaster” in markets.
