Flávio Bolsonaro released a letter in which he called himself the “true president-elect of Brazil,” Motta is the favorite to lead the House, and the TCU approved a CBS rate of 11.3% for next year
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), who was defeated in the second round of the presidential election, arrived in Miami, United States, yesterday (Oct. 28) with his wife and two daughters. In the afternoon, he released a letter in which he described himself as the “true president-elect of Brazil.” Following the backlash, Flávio replaced the phrase with “leader of Brazil,” but maintained his unsubstantiated claims of electoral fraud. After securing reelection, President Lula committed to supporting Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB) and Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) for the presidencies of the House and the Senate, respectively. Based on the support he has already secured, Motta is the favorite. He has publicly-declared support from 15 parties. Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) approved a proposal on Wednesday (Oct. 28) setting the Contribution on Goods and Services (CBS) rate at 11.3% for next year. The rate must be approved by the Senate by December 15.
