BRAZIL POLITICS - Report 22 Jun 2026 by Murillo de Aragão and Cristiano Noronha

This will be a slow week in Brasília, with reduced activity in the National Congress, due to the São João festivities and Brazil's World Cup match on Wednesday (June 24). President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is scheduled to meet this week with Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), the government's leader in the Senate. Last week, the senator became the target of a new Federal Police operation related to Banco Master. According to the investigation, Jaques Wagner allegedly received an apartment valued at BRL 2.45 million from banker Augusto Ferreira Lima, a former partner at Banco Master. This week will also see the release of five presidential voting intention polls. Indexa will publish results on Tuesday, Matria and Gerp on Wednesday, PoderData on Friday, and Vox on Saturday.
